Join us as for a one-day silent Zen retreat at The Richard Mauthe Center for Faith, Spirituality, and Social Justice.
About the Retreat
If you are interested the gifts that meditation offers, come and experience a full day of zazen with the Green Bay Zen Center. As you sit longer, you will have the wonderful opportunity to witness all that arises, and through one-pointed concentration (dharana), go into stillness. Breath after breath, you can go deeper into the silence and realize your true nature, discover once again Who You Are. Atta Dipa – you are this light!
Hollow Bones retreats are a modern adaptation of the traditional Japanese Rinzai Zen retreats. All practices are done in English in order to facilitate direct, personal understanding of the methods and goals. This day-long practice includes zazen (sitting meditation), kinhin (walking meditation), a teisho (teaching) given by Roshi Vimala Muni, and dokusan (a private interview) with Roshi.
At the conclusion of this retreat a jukai ceremony will take place, where two members of the sangha (community) will accept Buddhist precepts, handing over the tenets of practice.
During the retreat, we observe essential silence and ask that you plan your day to be free from outside communication and distractions.
Participation is welcome for portions of the retreat.
